It’s been 5 years since the Gorillaz released a new album; however, after a series of recent interviews by Damon Albarn, it appears fans will only have to wait a little bit longer. Though the virtual band has been sparse on details, they have provided something major, a timeline. While being interviewed by the BBC, songwriter and instrumentalist Albarn claimed, “Later in the year we’ll be starting to get the whole Gorillaz thing together”.

The exact release date is still unknown, but it looks like it will be sometime in 2017.

All over the world, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the duo, known for their animated fictional universe. Even Albarn seems excited claiming the new music is very special and that he is “loving” it. Additionally, he reported many of the songs will have a positive and upbeat sound. He went as far as to say the BPM will not drop below 125.

Moving forward, we must continue to be patient as we wait for the next album. All good things take time. Besides, since we’ve already waited half a decade, what’s a few more months?
