Following a very rough few years of cancelled tours and shows, Sweden born DJ Avicii announces his retirement from touring and live shows. And the support for him has been incredible. Dealing with a plethora of health problems including having his gall bladder and appendix removed while on tour, the stress of life on the road has finally caught up to the superstar.
Unless you’re very new to the world of EDM, Avicii is not a name you have overlooked. From “Levels” to “Wake Me Up” very few DJs have produced gold track after gold track like Tim Bergling. The producer and DJ has been voted one of the Top 10 DJs in 2011. One of the highest paid and most sought after DJs, he’s played shows all around the world from clubs like Space in Ibiza to world renknown festivals like Tomorrowland. As released on his website in a heartfelt letter to his fans, Avicii writes “I will however never let go of music – I will continue to speak to my fans through it, but I’ve decided this 2016 run will be my last tour and last shows. Let’s make them go out with a bang!”
The outpour of support from the community of his decision has been overwhelming. From The Chainsmokers, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, and Nicky Romero who produced everyone’s favorite “I Could Be The One” with Avicii, have all offered their best wishes to the DJ.
Much love to @avicii and his new beginnings! Thanks for being so inspiring to us and we wish you the best man!

.@avichie Best of luck on the retirement with the music career stuff. I’ve tried twice. It’s not like quitting a fuckin dayjob.

Just goes to show that when we watch these superstars at work, preforming in front of tens of thousands of people, and thousands more listening at home form live streams, they’re human, just like us and sometimes life gets in the way of what we may have planned.
While it may break our hearts to think we’ll never hear another set at Ultra, thanks for giving us some of the days we won’t ever forget, Avicii.
