The artist first announced his retirement back in late March and, since then, has been traveling and preforming a final round of shows all over the world. The decision to cease touring came from a profusion of health problems the artist acquired and encountered with his hectic schedule. Avicii also posted a heartfelt letter on his website thanking all of his family, friends and crew for helping him become the super star here is at the young age of 26.

In an interview with Billboard, Avicii shared, “It’s been a very crazy journey. I started producing when I was 16. I started touring when I was 18. From that point on, I just jumped into 100 percent…when I look back on my life, I think: whoa, did I do that?”

But stepping away from touring does not mean the superstar is quitting EDM altogether. He says a new album in 2016 is highly likely and that this break will give him even more time to focus on creating new music. Regardless on how big of a superstar you are, this reminds us that even the biggest acts are only human and need to take care of themselves just as much as their music and fans. Take care, Avicii.
