It’s been five months since The Chainsmokers released their triple platinum hit “Don’t Let Me Down (feat. Daya),” and they are back! “Closer” is the first collaboration between The Chainsmokers and New Jersey songstress Halsey. The single amplifies the playable, infectiously fun yet also sensitive sound The Chainsmokers have crafted with “Roses,” “Don’t Let Me Down,” and “Inside Out,” while offering a new look into the music that they want to make.image

Above is the official reveal that Halsey would be on the track, pictured with Taggart at 2016’s Bonnaroo.

The track is a sexy back and forth between Drew Taggart and Halsey as they describe how they want to get closer to one another but still maintaining a sense of freedom only youth can provide (imagine Nick Jonas’s Close but mix in some fantastic beats and drops). Taggart’s vocals are fantastic during the first verse and keep up with Halsey’s riffs when the two come together in perfect combination.

Knowing The Chainsmokers history, I would not be surprised to see this song in the Billboard Top Ten stat. “Don’t Let Me Down” peaked at number three on the Billboard 100 charts and “Roses” peaked at number six. So, where do you think “Closer” will land? Could this be The Chainsmoker’s first Top Ten #1? Let us know what you think in the comments!
