“Yeezy Yeezy Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman,” is a hip-hop line made famous by Kanye West based off the success of the Adidas Yeezy Boost. The first of many sneaker collaborations from Kanye and Adidas. I would continue talking about the Yeezy’s, but Run DMC had the best Adidas of all time! Let’s take a look at some of the other hip-hop artist killing the sneaker game.

Drake

Drake doesn’t only make great music he also has a lot of endorsements and other business ventures outside of music. He is the Toronto Raptors brand ambassador, the occasional host of Beats 1 radio, one of a few Sprite soft beverage endorsers, the face of Jordan Brand in the music world and did I mention he raps?

In 2013 Jordan Brand announced the newest member of Team Jordan, Drake. Since, Drake has released images of the OVO Jordan VIII, X, & XII. The only shoe to actually hit the market place has been the OVO X, which comes in two color ways, white and black. I was lucky enough cop a pair of the black X’s via the Nike SNKRS app. I know… I’d be jealous too.

Kendrick Lamar

On July 18, 2015 Kendrick Lamar and Reebok teamed up to release the most powerful shoe collab of all time, the red and blue Ventilator. The purpose of the Ventilator was to bring people together and promote unity. One shoe was red and the other blue, representing the Crips and Bloods, two gangs derived in Lamar’s hometown of Compton.kendrick-lamar-reebok-full-family-sizes-2

On July 1, 2016 they did it again but this time with the Reebok Classic. They kept the red and blue concept but added a twist to the iconic sneaker by putting a stitch down the center of each sneaker. I’ve never been a big Reebok fan, but these are a must cop in my book.

Pharrell

Pharrell is no stranger to the fashion and sneaker world. He is the creator and founder of the clothing line Billionaire Boys Club and fashion/skateboarding shoe “Ice Creams”. Kanye West may currently be the face of Adidas but Pharrell has been making some collaborations of his own.

Pharrell released a plethora of vibrant color ways of the classic Adidas Superstar sneaker called the “Superpack” in 2015. This year is set to release his versions of the Adidas ZX running collection. He also released a super dope family and friends exclusive of the Adidas NMD. The left sneaker reads “Family” and the right “Friends”. Literally meaning friends and family only.
