Last week screenshots of Big Sean and Kanye West in the studio surfaced from snapchat, as well as Mr. West’s release of a feature heavy track “Champions”, rumored to be on G.O.O.D Music’s long awaited compilation album ‘Cruel Winter’. The triumphant anthem features verse from Kanye, Gucci Mane, Big Sean, 2 Chainz and Yo Gotti. Travis Scott and Quavo of Migos provided the hook, with background vocals from Desiigner. With all this excitement and speculation surrounding the rumored release let’s take a brief moment to breakdown the G.O.O.D. Music roster and some of it’s closest affiliates.

Getting Out Our Dreams Music, better known as (G.O.O.D), is a record label founded by Kanye West in 2004 under Island Def Jam Recordings. Since then we have seen many artist come and go including one of my favorite artist and Ohio native, Kid Cudi. Cudi split ways with G.O.O.D. Music in the spring 2013. He was quoted in an MTV News interview saying, “It’s just I wanna focus on Wicked Awesome… I wanna focus on Chip, and that’s it.” “But it’s not a bad thing. That don’t mean I’m not gon’ be making music with them,” he said. “It just means that little baby with that dress on [the G.O.O.D. Music logo] ain’t gon’ be on the albums.”

According to Def Jam Archives the official G.O.O.D. Music roster consist of rap superstar Big Sean, G.O.O.D. Music president and rapper Pusha T, hip-hop pioneer Q-Tip, veteran singers John Legend and Teyana Taylor, and newest signees HXLT, Kacey Hill and viral sensation Desiigner. Not to be confused with close friends and affiliates Travis Scott (Grand Hu$tle), and 2 Chainz (Def Jam).

It’s been almost four years since the release of the Cruel Winter‘s predecessor, Cruel Summer, and six years since Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Fridays. Although there has been no official confirmation on the G.O.O.D Music release I think it’s safe to say we’re ready! Until then I’ll have ‘Champions’ on repeat for the summer.
