Marshmello, is living, bouncing proof that people love a good mystery and his “we are all Mello” appeal has been undeniably successful. Bass house artist “Malaa,” speculated to be DJ Snake, has done something similar. The question is, has Kylie Jenner been taking notes?
Anyone who has been keeping up with the Kardashians/Jenners has probably seen Kylie’s music video “Glosses” advertising her new lip products. What you may not know is that the video was directed by Colin Tilley, a Grammy-nominated music video director who has worked with the likes of Kedrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, both Justins (Timberlake and Bieber) and Kylie’s on-again, off-again boyfriend Tyga. When the video premiered, everyone was wondering what the catchy background track was; turns out it’s a song called “3 Strikes” by a pop group Terror Jr. with social media accounts created the same day as the video premiere. Could Kylie be levying her relationship with Tyga to gain traction in the music industry?
What’s more is that Terror Jr. is only following one person on Instagram and Twitter…Kylie Jenner. Also, in the only photo posted of the group, the lead singer is facing backwards wearing a wig, which Kylie has been known to do from time to time.Much like Marshmello did, Terror Jr. seems to be garnering an unusual amount of attention; the group’s gained over three million monthly listeners on Spotify in the five months that they’ve been a thing. The breathy vocals on the electropop tracks are undeniably similar to Kiiara, but are they similar to Kylie’s as posted on her Snapchat story? Or is “Terror Jr.” just playing the biggest trick yet on all us hype beasts? You be the judge.
